The General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi, has urged Nigerians to seek God’s intervention in addressing the insecurity confronting the country, describing God as the ultimate solution to the nation’s challenges.
Pastor Kumuyi made the appeal while speaking with journalists after paying a courtesy visit to the Governor of Benue State, Hyacinth Alia, who was represented by his deputy, Sam Ode, at the Government House. The visit formed part of activities for the week-long Global Crusade taking place in Gboko and Otukpo Local Government Areas of the state.
According to the cleric, while individuals may be responsible for acts of violence and insecurity, lasting solutions can only come from God.
He said, “We know that, when bad things happen, there are people who are responsible for it, but the people are not the solution. God is our problem solver.”
He further added, “God is waiting for us. He said, ‘If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and turn away from their sins,’ He is ready to solve their problems.”
Kumuyi explained that the week-long Global Crusade in Gboko and Otukpo is intended to encourage people to return to God, repent of their sins and seek His help in overcoming the nation’s challenges.
The cleric also commended the progress being made in Benue State, noting that the state has continued to record improvements in infrastructure and education despite the persistent security challenges affecting many communities.
Speaking during the visit, the Deputy Governor of Benue State, Sam Ode, described the state as richly blessed with abundant agricultural and human resources. He said the administration of Governor Hyacinth Alia remains committed to building a peaceful, united and inclusive state where every resident can prosper.
The week-long Global Crusade in Gboko and Otukpo comes shortly after Benue State marked its 50th anniversary, during which the government called on citizens to embrace peace, unity and reconciliation.
Benue remains one of the states most affected by insecurity in Nigeria. Repeated attacks on communities by armed assailants have forced thousands of residents to flee their homes, with many internally displaced persons still living in camps across the state. The government, in collaboration with security agencies, continues efforts to restore peace and create conditions that will allow displaced communities to return safely to their homes.
