Nigeria’s Falconets have been crowned champions of the 2025 WAFU B U-20 Girls Cup, following an emphatic 3–0 victory over Ghana in the final played at the Stade Omnisports d’Adjohoun in Benin Republic on Tuesday.
Goals from Jenat Akekoromowei, Alaba Olabiyi, and Ramotalahi Kareem sealed the win for the Nigerian side, marking their first-ever title in the sub-regional competition.
Ghana, who won the maiden edition two years ago, were unable to contain a dominant Falconets team that controlled the match from start to finish.
Nigeria opened the scoring in the 17th minute through Akekoromowei’s thunderous long-range free-kick, before Olabiyi doubled the lead six minutes later with a composed finish to make it 2–0.
The Falconets maintained their intensity after the break and were rewarded in the 61st minute when Kareem connected with an Akekoromowei cross to score the third goal, putting the result beyond doubt.
That strike took Kareem’s tally to three goals, drawing her level with Akekoromowei at the top of the tournament’s scorers’ chart.
The victory means Nigeria have now topped the table with nine points from three matches, while Ghana finished second with six points.
The result also served as sweet revenge for the Falconets, who lost to the Black Princesses on penalties in the final of the inaugural edition.
Nigeria will round off their campaign against hosts Benin Republic on Wednesday in what will now be a dead-rubber fixture, having already secured the championship.
Attention will next turn to the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers against Senegal, scheduled for February 2026.
