Manchester City have confirmed that Pep Guardiola will step down as the club’s manager at the end of the current season.
His final match in charge will be against Aston Villa at the Etihad Stadium in the last game of the 2025/2026 season.
The announcement comes shortly after Manchester City lost the Premier League title to Arsenal following a draw against Bournemouth.
Guardiola said he believes it is the right time to leave the club after a highly successful 10-year spell.
“There is no reason, but deep inside, I know it’s my time,” Guardiola said.
“And what a time we have had together. Nothing is eternal. Eternal will be the feeling, the people, the memories, and the love I have for Manchester City.”
Guardiola joined Manchester City in June 2016 and became the most successful manager in the club’s history.
During his time at the club, he won 17 major trophies and three Community Shields.
The 55-year-old manager won six Premier League titles, including a historic run of four consecutive league triumphs.
He also guided Manchester City to their first UEFA Champions League title in 2023, completing a treble that included the Premier League and FA Cup.
Guardiola additionally won five Carabao Cups and three FA Cups during his stay at the club.
His final domestic trophy came with a 1-0 FA Cup victory over Chelsea at Wembley Stadium last week.
Manchester City ended the season unbeaten in domestic cup competitions, winning both the FA Cup and Carabao Cup.
