Liverpool have sacked head coach Arne Slot after a disappointing defence of their Premier League title.
The club, which finished fifth in the league table, announced that the Dutch manager would leave his position with immediate effect. Slot had been in charge at Anfield for two seasons.
Liverpool supporters became increasingly frustrated with the team’s poor performances, while reports suggested there was unrest in the dressing room, with Mohamed Salah being one of the most vocal players.
In a statement, Liverpool confirmed that the process of appointing a new manager is already underway.
The club stated that the decision was made because it believed a change in direction was necessary.
Liverpool also emphasized that the decision does not diminish Slot’s achievements or the respect the club has for him. They acknowledged his contributions and noted that he leaves with a Premier League title to his name.
The club expressed its gratitude to Slot and said that he and his family would always be welcome at Anfield.
