Chelsea have sacked Liam Rosenior as manager following a run of five consecutive Premier League defeats.
The 41-year-old had been in charge for just over three months after joining from French side Strasbourg, a club affiliated with Chelsea’s ownership group.
A 3-0 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion proved to be the final blow. The losing streak marked Chelsea’s first run of five straight league defeats without scoring since 1912 and left the club seven points behind the Champions League qualification places.
In a statement, Chelsea confirmed that the decision to part ways was not taken lightly but was necessary due to poor results and performances falling below expected standards.
Calum McFarlane has been placed in temporary charge of the team and will oversee their next fixture, an FA Cup semi-final clash against Leeds United.
