Adedokun Waliyu The US Supreme Court on Monday allowed President Donald Trump to continue construction of his White House ballroom, granting him a major victory in a lawsuit over one of the key projects of his second term.
The conservative-dominated court voted 5-4 to lift a lower court order that had demanded that construction be halted.
Chief Justice John Roberts notably joined the court’s three liberal justices in dissenting.
Roberts had earlier issued a temporary order allowing construction to continue while the full court considered the matter.
The ruling means the Trump administration can proceed with the ballroom project while the legal dispute surrounding the construction continues.
The decision represents a significant victory for Trump as he advances plans to transform part of the White House complex during his second term.
