President Bola Tinubu has praised Nigerian troops and other security personnel engaged in the fight against terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and other violent crimes, describing them as the nation’s shield against threats to peace and security.
In a message posted on his official X account, the President commended members of the Armed Forces and other security agencies for their sacrifices and dedication in protecting lives and property across the country.
He stated that security personnel stand between innocent citizens and those who seek to disrupt the peace, safety, and dignity of communities. According to him, they continue to carry the burden of national protection in forests, on roads, in the air, in creeks, and across difficult terrains, enabling Nigerians to live, work, worship, farm, trade, and raise their families in peace.
Tinubu acknowledged that the fight against terrorism and insecurity has been challenging and has required great sacrifice. He praised the courage and resilience of security operatives, assuring them that their service and sacrifices are recognized and appreciated by the nation.
The President extended his appreciation to personnel of the Armed Forces, the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), intelligence agencies, local security groups, and all others contributing to national security.
He also paid tribute to the families of security personnel, recognizing the long periods of separation, anxiety, and emotional strain they endure while supporting loved ones serving the country.
In addition, Tinubu honored officers and personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty, describing their sacrifices as crucial to the protection of communities and the preservation of Nigeria.
The President urged Nigerians to actively support security agencies by providing timely and useful information. He emphasized that defeating terrorism and other security threats requires collective national effort.
According to him, the fight against terror is not solely a military responsibility but a duty shared by all citizens. He encouraged Nigerians to report suspicious activities whenever they see or know something that could assist security agencies.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to ending insecurity, Tinubu declared that Nigeria would not surrender to fear or allow terrorists, bandits, kidnappers, and violent extremists to define the nation’s identity.
He concluded by thanking frontline security personnel for their courage, vigilance, and service while praying for their continued protection.
The President’s remarks come amid ongoing security challenges in parts of the country, including terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and communal violence. Recent incidents include the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo and Borno States, attacks on communities by armed groups, and kidnappings along major highways.
