Abbas Araghchi announced that the Strait of Hormuz will remain “completely open” for all commercial vessels for the duration of the ongoing ceasefire.
He stated that passage through the vital global oil route is fully open as long as the truce holds, though it remains unclear whether he referred to the 10-day ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel or the earlier two-week truce between Iran and the United States.
Donald Trump welcomed the development, publicly thanking Iran and confirming that the waterway is open for full passage during the ceasefire period.
Iran had previously closed the Strait of Hormuz on February 28 following the outbreak of war involving the United States and Israel, disrupting a major route for global energy supplies.
The reopening of the waterway forms part of the ceasefire arrangement, although some uncertainty remains regarding whether the agreement also covers related conflicts involving Lebanon.
