The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has announced the disbursement of a total of ₦1.5 billion to 6,129 students across three tertiary institutions for the 2025/2026 academic session.
According to an update shared on the Fund’s verified X account, the beneficiary institutions are Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology (BOUESTI), Ekiti State, Sikiru Adetona College of Education, Science and Technology, Ogun State, and the Edo State College of Nursing Sciences, Benin City.
A breakdown of the disbursement shows that BOUESTI received ₦1,360,920,800 across five tranches, benefiting 5,396 students. Sikiru Adetona College of Education, Science and Technology received ₦104,530,000 for 680 students, while the Edo State College of Nursing Sciences received ₦36,485,000 for 53 students.
The three institutions have confirmed receiving the funds through official acknowledgement letters.
The Registrar of Sikiru Adetona College, Dr. Bukola Makinde, confirmed that the money had already been credited directly into the bank accounts of the beneficiaries. She said the financial support would enable students to continue their studies without financial difficulties.
The Provost of the Edo State College of Nursing Sciences, Mabel Omobude, assured that the funds would be used strictly for their intended educational purposes. She reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and compliance with best practices in administering the loan scheme.
Similarly, BOUESTI Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Andrew Babatunde Omojola, confirmed receiving the full ₦1,360,920,800 disbursed in five tranches for 5,396 students.
He expressed appreciation to the Federal Government and commended the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of NELFUND and his team for ensuring the successful implementation of the student loan programme nationwide.
The latest disbursement forms part of the Federal Government’s effort to expand access to higher education by providing financial support to eligible Nigerian students through the NELFUND student loan initiative.
