Miss Universe 2024 First Runner-up, Chidimma Adetshina has declared her plans to quit the beauty pageantry.
Chidimma on Sunday made history at the 73rd Miss Universe pageant in Mexico City by becoming the first Nigerian to finish as the first runner-up.
The impressive feat marked a new milestone for Nigeria in the prestigious beauty contest.
The coveted crown went to Denmark’s Victoria Kjaer Theilvig, who outshone 124 contestants from around the globe. Theilvig succeeds Sheynnis Palacios of Nicaragua, who held the title in 2023.
Chidimma’s journey was a celebration of elegance, culture, and style, showcasing Nigeria’s heritage and strength.
Her stunning national costume, “Nwanyi-Njiko,” designed by Abanobi Emmanuel Ifechukwu and Modela Couture, was a tribute to unity, strength, and heritage.
Speaking to newsmen on Wednesday in a video SaharaReporters saw on X, Chidimma said she had a very traumatic experience during the Miss Universe contest.
She added that she felt fulfilled for earning her country, Nigeria a historic honour on the global stage.
She said, “The comments I was getting, everybody was like Nigeria is really showing up this year. I think we really did a good job of putting Nigeria out there, it is not only on my own, I did it with a whole of people who came together. We really did a great job and I am looking forward to the next one. We left Nigeria at a stage where no one is going to forget Nigeria.
“Honestly, I am done. Pageantry was really a dramatic experience for me. Honestly, it was really traumatic. I think people also don’t really get how I feel, Sometimes I am really down, and I don’t even want to do Miss Universe anymore. I am really done with pageantry. I will just focus on myself and establish who I am. Further my education as well. I am really glad I left on a really good note.”
