World champions Argentina have maintained their position as the world’s number one team in the latest FIFA rankings released on June 11, 2026.
Argentina remain at the top after impressive performances in recent international matches. Spain are second, while France occupy third place. England and Portugal complete the top five.
Nigeria retained 26th position globally following mixed results in recent outings. The Super Eagles recorded victories over Zimbabwe and Jamaica at the Unity Cup in London but later drew 2-2 with Poland and lost 2-1 to Portugal in an international friendly.
Morocco remain the highest-ranked African nation, sitting seventh in the world rankings.
The latest rankings come as attention turns to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted by United States, Mexico and Canada. The tournament will feature 48 teams, making it the largest World Cup in history.
