Bolu Akin-Olugbade, billionaire businessman, has died from COVID-19 complications.
According to family sources, the socialite died on Wednesday at an isolation facility in Lagos.
He was born on April 2, 1956, to the family of late Babatunde Akin-Olugbade, Balogun of Owu and a wealthy businessman.
Bolu holds the traditional title of the Aare Ona- Kankanfo of Owu Kingdom.
He was a lawyer and his business interest include property development, construction, manufacturing, logistics, distribution, maritime and offshore services and investment banking.
He attended Corona School, King’s College, Lagos and London University.
Akin-Olugbade had his master’s degree in law at University of California and obtained his doctorate degree in company law at Cambridge University.
Aare Boluwatife Akin-Olugbade, the Are Ona Kakanfo of Owu Kingdom, is a man of means, taste and style. He is also one of the world’s biggest Rolls-Royce collectors. He is so obsessed with the Rolls Royce brand, that he buys every released model of the exotic car. He bought his first Rolls Royce in 1984. Bolu Akin-Olugbade’s passion for acquiring Rolls-Royce has earned him global attention. Little wonder that he made the list of the 25 select rich men who were invited globally for a private viewing of the new 2019 Rolls Royce SUV called ‘Cullinan’.
At the event, he paid for one. The car was reported to have cost him about N400 million. Some of the other Rolls-Royces that he owns include Phantom Convertible Drophead, Ghost, 2018 Phantom V111, etc. His Rolls Royce cars are in his different homes situated all around the globe. He has 3 Rolls-Royces in his Lagos home, 2 in his London home, 2 in his Los Angeles home, and 2 in his Dubai home. In a Twitter post, Gbenga Adeyinka, a popular comedian, mourned the deceased.
“Haaaaaaaaaa! Death Why? EGBON REST IN PEACE. Bolu Akin-Olugbade, son of Chief Babatunde Akin-Olugbade, Balogun of Owu, the traditional Prime Minister. RIP @ Lagos, Nigeria,” he wrote.
