The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reaffirmed that the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise will end today, Sunday, July 26, 2026, and has urged all eligible Nigerians to register or update their voter information before the deadline.
In a statement shared on its official X account, the commission reminded citizens that voter registration is a vital requirement for participating in the 2027 general election.
INEC said there is still an opportunity for eligible Nigerians to make their voices count by registering to vote or updating their voter records before the close of the exercise.
The commission advised those who have not yet registered to complete the process through its Continuous Voter Registration portal or visit any of its state or local government offices before registration closes.
According to INEC, the exercise also allows voters to apply for transfers of polling units, correct personal information, and replace lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
The commission noted that the nationwide registration exercise has been conducted in three phases over the past year.
The first phase began in August 2025 with online pre-registration, followed by physical registration on August 25. By December 2025, INEC had recorded 2,572,054 completed registrations, including 1,503,832 online registrations and 1,068,222 completed through physical enrolment.
The second phase ran from January 5 to April 17, 2026, during which the commission registered an additional 3,748,704 eligible voters across the country.
The third phase commenced in May 2026 and was later extended by two weeks in July to give more Nigerians the opportunity to participate.
With the registration deadline now reached, INEC has urged all eligible citizens who are yet to register or update their records to do so immediately, stressing that only registered voters will be eligible to participate in the 2027 general elections.
