The Federal Government is set to unveil the 2026 Annual Flood Outlook (AFO) as Nigeria prepares for the upcoming rainy season.
Bola Ahmed Tinubu is expected to officially launch the outlook at the Banquet Hall of the Aso Villa in Abuja.
The unveiling represents a key step in the country’s disaster management efforts, signalling a shift from reactive emergency responses to a more proactive, data-driven approach.
The development follows a technical pre-launch meeting organised by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) on March 31.
This year’s flood outlook is expected to provide detailed guidance for managing the rainy season, with meteorologists warning of a combination of above-normal rainfall and prolonged dry spells across different parts of the country.
For many Nigerians — especially farmers and residents in flood-prone areas — the report is a crucial planning tool. It helps guide agricultural activities such as planting schedules and supports businesses in preparing for and reducing flood-related risks.
