The monarch who is the traditional ruler of Orugbo-Iddo was installed against a substiting court order by the immidiate past governor of Lagos state, Mr Akinwumi Ambode on April 26, 2019 before qutting office on May 29, 2019.
The family stated that the questionable ceremony was hurriedly put together and aided by tonnes of security operatives to settle a political score.
Checks by TheLead Online confirmed that the Olusi Royal Family’s five lineages namely Ogunsunmiro, Aaroja, Falade, Odudede and Tugbedo as headed by Pastor Bakare Gaius Obarinu, Messers Sarafi Alatada, Taju Bello, Saheed Alagbala and Pastor Olamayowa David Yekini had filled a suit No:ID/ 2178GEM/2017 at the Lagos High Court against the nomination, selection and installation of the monarch.
Copies of the court applications indicated that Lagos State Government, the king makers of Orugbo-Iddo land, Mr Adewale Mushafau Abdul, the Chairman of Epe Local Government, and Lagos State Commissioner of for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs were joined and represented at different court proceedings until February 2019.

“The current Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu is a man of intergrity and honour. I am appealling to him to use his good office to ensure that the illegality perpetrated by Ambode is redressed. We are prepared to follow this matter legally as stipulated by law” he vowed.
