President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the reappointment of Shekarau Omar as executive director, small and medium enterprises ( SME) for a second term.
The Bank of Industry (BoI) disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.
Omar’s reappointment will be for four years, according to BoI.
“He has repositioned the directorate through remarkable expansion of the portfolio and marked improvement of the risk assets quality,” the statement reads.
Omar was first appointed as the executive director in 2019, following the retirement of Waheed Olagunju from the bank.
Prior to his appointment, he was the general manager, SME north; and later general manager, large enterprises.
According to the bank, Omar will be responsible for leading Afreximbank’s strategy on information technology in support of the BoI’s mandate and medium-term strategy.
This includes leading a comprehensive strategy to build, develop and standardise technology solutions for the bank.
The statement further said Buhari also approved the appointment of Mabel Ndagi as executive director, effective from March 19, 2023.
It added that Ndagi will be replacing Toyin Adeniji, (current executive director) who retires on March 18, 2023, after serving her second and final term in office.
“Ms. Ndagi, currently the general manager, government and external communications of the bank, has served diligently for over 16 years.”
