Bola Tinubu, presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), will, on Sunday, pay a courtesy visit to Reuben Fasoranti, former leader of Afenifere, and the leadership of Afenifere in Akure, Ondo state.
This was disclosed in a statement by Bayo Onanuga, director of media and publicity for the APC presidential campaign council.
According to the statement, during the visit, Tinubu will present his action plan on how he will tackle the country’s challenges.
“On 17 December, Tinubu addressed a coalition of Arewa groups in Kaduna during which he highlighted the key elements of the plan, especially as they benefit the people of Northern Nigeria,” the statement reads.
“The APC torch bearer will similarly speak on his plans before the Yoruba group, led by Pa Reuben Fasoranti.
“He will on Tuesday in Lagos discuss with the chambers of commerce in the South West on how he intends to improve the economy of Nigeria, to achieve a double digit growth.”
In July, Ayo Adebanjo, leader of Afenifere, had thrown his weight behind Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP).
Adebanjo said Obi has the ability to “rule independently” and would not disappoint Nigerians if he wins the 2023 presidential election.
“It is only Peter Obi that can rule independently without the influence of these criminals in the government. Tinubu will only give continuity to Buhari’s incompetence,” Adebanjo had said.
Meanwhile, Fasoranti, in 2021, said Tinubu deserves to be president in 2023.
“Tinubu has all it takes to rule Nigeria. Considering his activities and track record, he deserves to be president, come 2023,” the former Afenifere leader had said.
“May his prayers be answered. When he gets there, he will do all we want.”
