The Socio-Political Group, Asiwaju Grassroots Foundation (AGF), has warned the National Assembly over the presumed character of defamation against the personality of the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The group gave the warning on Tuesday in a statement made available to Journalists in Osogbo and signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Adeboye Adebayo.
The group according to the statement, cautioned the Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki and his members not to make an attempt of dragging the personality of the APC Chieftain (Tinubu) into a political mess as being displayed by the upper chamber of the National Assembly.
The group who lamented over what it described as unscrupulous collective attitude of legislature in both the House of Senate and House of Representatives in recent times decried on what it termed ‘political ridicule of the highest order’ and accusing the members of the National Assembly for disappointing Nigerians as well reducing the respected Red Chamber to a mere Bukola Saraki’s enterprise.
The statement reads in parts: “As a formidable socio-political foundation in the country, we are watching with keen interest the unfolding events and drama at the National Assembly most especially in the House of Senate.
“We are aware that a caucus of the Senate is pointing an accuse finger to our Principal (Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu), but we want to state clearly and loudly that any attempt by any caucus of the Senate, the Senate in its entirety or the National Assembly as a body to drag the name of our Tinubu into their display of madness shall be met with swift resistance because we will never allow anybody to disrespect such a wonder personality under any guise.
“Tinubu remains National Leader of our great party (APC) and the most patriotic leader that had sacrificed a lot for the success of our party.
“As a matter of fact, we are not bothered by the recent activities of the Senate because the current drama in the National Assembly is a reflection of our stand as our political camp has been thoroughly vindicated.
“Nigerians can recall vividly the sagas of budget missing, budget doctoration and budget padding at the House of Representatives and refusal of Bukola Saraki led House of Senate to confirm the EFCC boss, Mr. Ibrahim Magu because of many fraudulent cases involving Saraki and some other criminals at the Senate.
“As it is, happenings in the National Assembly had reflected the assertion holding by the majority of Nigerians that, the Senate is a house of fraudulent people just as their debates were described as glorified beer parlour talks.
“So, we are not bothered about their actions but what will bother us is any attempt to drag the good name of our Principal into their madness”.
The AGF therefore called on President Mohammodu Buhari and the National Working Committee of the APC to save the face of the party and as well rescue Nigerians who are at the receiving end of their madness.
