Nigeria’s U-17 boys, Golden Eaglets, on Friday night emerged Champions of the West Africa Zone B after defeating Burkina Faso in the final match of the competition played in Cape Coast, Ghana.
Nigeria and Burkina Faso have already qualified for the Africa U17 Championship which Algeria will host next year, and from which Africa’s flag bearers to next year’s FIFA U17 World Cup in Peru will emerge.
The Eaglets claimed the title with 2-1 win courtesy of two goals scored by Abubakar Abdulahi.
Nduka Ugbade’s side took the lead in the 23rd minute after Abubakar Abdulahi connected to Emmanuel Michael freekick but Burkina faso wasted no time before equalising to make it 1-1.
Five-time world champions Nigeria bounced back through Abdulahi’s shot in the 48th minute and restored the lead for Eaglets in the second half to make it 2-1.
Nigeria’s Miracle Udor won the Man-Of -The-Match.
