Hundreds of members of The Yoruba self-determination group stormed Ibadan, the Oyo state capital on Saturday to support a freedom rally organised by the Ilana Omo Oodua headed by Emeritus Banji Akintoye.
The agitators were armed with banners and Yoruba nation flags calling for the freedom of Yoruba land.
While addressing the crowd at the rally, Basorun Kunle Adesokan the Secretary General of Ilana Omo Odua
said ‘we are here to let Nigerians know that we are no longer part of Nigeria entity again, people from all over the Yorubaland are here, we started in Ibadan just because we know it’s the capital city of the Yoruba race, and we have started and there is no going back.’
“We are not preventing any other regions from going their separate ways, all our politicans that are warming up for 2023 election should forget it because there will no be election in Nigeria especially in Yorubaland, and whoever think of doing election in year 2023 is deceiving themselves.”
The secretary of the group, Dr Akin Adejuwon, stated that Yoruba is no longer part of Nigeria and its people want to be an independent nation.
He condemned the insecurity in Yorubaland, saying the people could no longer stand the injustice in Nigeria and He assured that no Election will take place in Yorubaland in the 2023 general election.
Speaking at the Yoruba House Headquarters, Prof Banji Akintoye who was represented by Otunba Shade Olukoya, Treasurer, Nigerian Nationalities Alliance for Self-Determination said that the federal government of Nigeria is to address five demands which include to formally acknowledge the sovereignty dispute as declared by NINAS and the expiration of the 90 days without no formal contact or statement by government prompted them to go into action.
Akintoye added that the main task of NINAS is to lead the dismantling of fraudulent 1999 constitution to end the unworkable unitary union it foists and champion the processes of self determination by which sovereignty is restored to the constituents regions of the alliance.
