YCYW Commends Prof Banji Akintoye’s Led Team, Demands For Directorate Of Youth Affairs

The Southwest Zone of the Yoruba Council of Youths Worldwide commends Prof.Banji Akintoye for constituting Executive Working Committee without wasting time.

According to a press release issued by Asiwaju Segun Nelson, Southwest Zonal Cordinator at an emergency meeting held with other Yoruba Youth Association’s Leaders in Sheraton Hotel, Lagos on 1st November, 2019 he commended Professor Banji Akintoye’s led team.

He said “this is a good and laudable initiative to move Yoruba Land forward as means of uniting all yoruba sons and daughters within Nigeria and in Diaspora.

Asiwaju Nelson further said- We have carefully looked into the selection process of the appointment of the working committee, precipitating our concerns as critical stakeholders on the office of Youth Empowerment Initiative into the Congress, which is not a true collective representation of the youths of Yoruba Land, we hereby demand for a well constituted Directorate of Youth Affairs, this is expected to further house Youth Empowerment Initiative and other departments in the congress. This could be achieved through a wider consultation among all yoruba youth associations or bodies.

We have collectively spoken and appeal for consideration of the appointment of a competent and intelligent Director of Youth Affairs, since the youth represents a larger percentage in the scheme of the congress affairs and the entire yoruba community. Hence, their full inclusion is necessary for the congress to progressively move on.
