The TTC is increasing wait times for nighttime subway service on both Line 1 and Line 2 starting this week as part of a series of updated route and service changes.
Starting Monday, the wait time between trains from 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. Monday to Friday on both the Yonge-University and Bloor-Danforth lines will be five minutes, an increase of one minute from the current wait time. After 10 p.m., the wait time between trains on Yonge-University will also be five minutes, an increase of two minutes from the current standard, while the wait time between trains on the Bloor-Danforth line goes up to six minutes.
Transit advocate groups say one minute might not sound like much but any delay creates a ripple effect which means a longer wait time overall and may cause riders to miss possible surface connections, which could mean an additional 15 or 20 minute wait for the next bus or streetcar due to previous cuts made on those routes.
No reason was given for the increased wait times but the transit agency has said previously it would adjust service on its subway and bus routes to “align with ridership demand.”
The 505 Dundas streetcar will no longer run along Kingston Road, turning back at Kingston Road and Queen Street East. Service along Kingston Road will be replaced by the 503 Kingston Road buses which will run every 10 minutes, all day, seven days a week.
Service is being increased on the 509 Harbourfront and 511 Bathurst streetcar routes to accommodate the CNE, which runs from August 18 to September 4. Additional service will also be added to the 29 Dufferin and 929 Dufferin Express route buses between Dufferin Station and Dufferin Gate.
The 22 Coxwell route will go back into full service following the completion of water main and streetcar track repair work. The return of the 22 Coxwell bus will see changes to the 31 Greenwood bus route which will now operate between Eastern Avenue and the Queen-Kingston Loop. The 31 Greenwood will also continue to end at Coxwell Station due to ongoing construction work.

Changes to the 337 Islington and 945 Kipling Express now that construction at the intersection of Kipling Avenue and Finch Avenue West related to Line 6 has been completed.
Changes to the 45 Kipling and 945 Kipling Express due to rehabilitation work being done at Kipling Station. A temporary bus terminal has been built at the eastern passenger pick-up lot.
