He alleged that Democrats are planning to use various tactics to obstruct his administration.
The United States President-elect, Donald Trump, has accused Senate Democrats of attempting to delay the confirmation process for his nominees, calling on Republicans to stand firm.
In a statement posted on his official X account on Tuesday, Trump said, “We just won a Historic Landslide and Mandate from the American People, but Senate Democrats are organising to improperly stall and delay the confirmation process of many of our Great Nominees.”
He alleged that Democrats are planning to use various tactics to obstruct his administration.
“They will try all sorts of tricks starting very soon,” Trump warned.
The President-elect therefore urged Republican lawmakers to resist such efforts, stating, “Republicans must not allow them to do that. We have a Country to run, and many big problems to solve, mostly created by Democrats.”
Trump added, “Republicans, be smart and tough!!!”
Trump’s comments reflect growing tensions as he prepares to assume office, with key policy and administrative decisions hanging in the balance.
Trump staged an incredible political comeback and reclaimed the White House after being declared the winner of the 2024 United States presidential election.
He is the first president in over 130 years – and only the second in history – to win a non-consecutive second term.
His defeat of Vice President Kamala Harris marks a remarkable return for a twice-impeached president, who left office in 2021 on the back of claims that he had incited an assault on the U.S. Capitol building, and who was convicted earlier this year on multiple counts of business fraud.
The 78-year-old Trump will also become the oldest president ever inaugurated, beating President Joe Biden’s record by five months.
