A Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), Total Health Foundation in continuation of her free health outreach, has yet delivered a new set of free treatment in the ancient city of Ileogbo, the headquarter of Ayedire Local Government, Osun State.
It could be recalled that the monthly medical attention was launched in August last year (2017) as part of the facilitator`s contribution to her immediate community.
There were countless testimonies by the beneficiaries of the free outreach at the February edition held recently at Ileogbo Court Hall, Ileogbo.
One of the regular beneficiaries who double as the Baale of Obi-Elu village in Ileogbo, Chief Rafiu Adiatu Adeleke, described the free medical service as timely and blessing to his healthy living. According to him “I spent so much on my health before and not as sound as I am today. I have been enjoying this free health care since last year. Who knows may be the treatment safe my life? It is lifesaving and free of charge. I am healthier and balance than before now. The testimonies of my village beneficiaries are certificate for the success of the programme for the organizer”
Also speaking, Mr. Agunbiade Ganiyu tagged the free medical care as nourishing and unity promotion among the old and the young in the town. He noted apart from political gathering, there is no any other monthly gathering connecting person of the town together. He opined the health facilitoies has thus re-united old friends and close the distance between the young and the old. According to him “Such a free health service is not common in Ileogbo. I reference God and the foundation for their rescue mission. There are improvements in peoples health, including me. I was an hypertensive patient but my health has improved. God is using Total Health Foundation to rescue many of us”
Many other beneficiaries, who could not hide their joy spoke to the press of the impacts of the free medical treatment, noted many lives have been safe from untimely death.
The facilitator of the outreach, Dr. (Mrs.) Adeteju Ogunrinde acknowledged and appreciated patents compliance to intake instructions, saying it has contributed to an improved healthy living. She also commended the facilitators and donors for lubricating the free medical care.
According to her ” We have been able to make a great success with little resources due to great grass root effort under the leadership of Alli Yakubu, Mrs Adeyeye, Dr. Taiwo Nafiu, Seyi Akintola and our grand matron Mrs Maria Nafiu. And special thanks to Miss Tola Ogunrinde for her unrelenting support. In addition, we are grateful for free medical supplies from our US sources like Americares and Kingsway brothers. We are seeing better compliance because of patient education from our nurses and patient can feel the medicine working because all our medicine are genuine. We strongly believe if the government can do their part in providing basic infrastructure like good road into the villages, light and water, more brain drained can begin to come back to thier roots. Health is wealth, and we all should have the right to at least basic healthcare”
One of the volunteers, Dr. Nafiu Taiwo described healthy living as the most valued asset of nature, demanding timely attention of the government and concerned Nigerians to raise the surviving souls through free health programmes. He noted lack of awareness and ignorance of patients have contributed to high death rate, praying private individual to emulate Total Health Foundation to safe more lives.
According to him, “I see the outreach as yielding in ensuring that the health challenges of people are addressed. Government cannot go round the entire state. So far, the outreach has addressed and limited the number of diabetes and hypertension patients in our vicinity. It is an eye opener to the danger of the two silent killers and a rescue for the patients in our community. Answering question on the cause for the high turnout, he noted poverty and lack of sufficient health facilities in the government hospitals. That is why most patients stay home until the stage of no repair. This outreach is unique that it establishes the indicators of those diseases. Many victims are ignorance of the symptom and complications of diabetes. We enlightened and take them through the precautions and then administer prescribed drugs. He noted health as a national issue deserving daily attention.
Another volunteer, Mrs. Mariam Nafiu lauded the foundation for their mission, saying she volunteered as one of the moderator to encourage the facilitator and contribute to the society. In her words “I am here to coordinate patients who came for free medical care. You can see they are so many and there should be coordination to ensure everyone get the attention of the doctors and nurses. I am doing it for free. My testimonies are health improvement of thopse benefiting from the programe. The programme is made for the community and this is my community. I salute the facilitators for their commitment and urged them to make the service a continuous one as they have been doing”
