Augustine Kelechi, the Nigerian singer better known as Tekno, has opened up on his struggles to quit smoking marijuana.
In a video shared via his Instagram story on Wednesday, the music star said he found it difficulty to sleep on the first night he abstained from taking weed.
The ‘Skeletun’ crooner added that he has gone 24 hours without consuming the psychoactive drug.
Tekno also said he hopes to go 30 days without taking the substance.
The singer said at the end of the experiment, he would decide whether to continue taking marijuana or stop it completely.
“My first 24 hours of not smoking cannabis, marijuana, weed or whatever you decide to call it. It was a little hard to sleep the first night but this is 24 hours. I am about to go another 24 hours; I am trying to go 30 days not smoking weed,” he said.
“At the end of these 30 days, I will decide if I want to keep smoking or if I don’t want to smoke anymore but I will come back here to keep you guys updated every day. Let’s see how it goes.”
Possession of cannabis — also called marijuana or weed — is currently outlawed in the country, with violators likely to be jailed if convicted.
In spite of its ban, cases of people still using it abound, a development that has continued to generate concerns among stakeholders.
Burna Boy had earlier faulted the continued ban of the drug in the country, attributing such to “hypocrisy”.
The musician claimed while “everybody smokes weed” in the country, nobody wants to be seen taking it because of the misconception about it.
