The former Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) housemate, Tacha Akide, has communicated the reasons behind her recent relocation to the United Kingdom.
The reality TV star announced her move on November 26.
In an interview with the British media personality Madame Joyce, Tacha revealed that she relocated due to the low pay within Nigeria’s influencing industry, which she claimed does not align with the high cost of maintaining the required lifestyle.
The reality star also argued that she has “conquered” the Nigerian market but remains open to local deals if they meet her expectations.
“I relocated to the UK because I have conquered the whole of the Nigerian market. Relocating to the UK doesn’t mean I’m not going to do Nigerian deals. If the offer is good, why not?” Tacha said.
“The influencing scene in Nigeria looks so beautiful, but behind the scenes, it’s not as beautiful as it seems because the money is poor. Someone would pay you N6 million, that’s around $3,000, for you to influence for six months and post two videos a month.
“The fee was the same when I left the Big Brother Naija show in 2019, but it made sense then. At least, you could book a plane ticket with it. But right now, $3,000 is nothing. N6 million seems good, but when you have to convert it to dollars, travel abroad, and spend money to look good, there’s nothing left.”
Tacha first rose to fame during the 2019 edition of BBNaija. Her time on the show ended prematurely after she was disqualified for physical aggression toward a fellow housemate.
Since then, she has built a career in the entertainment industry. She ventured into fashion and worked as a radio host at Cool FM.
Recently, Tacha expanded her business ventures into sports by launching a football club called Tacha FC.
