The residents of Alaatare Community, Ologuneru, Ibadan, have called the attention of the governor of Oyo State, ‘Seyi Makinde, to the major challenge of flooding being faced by over 5,000 residents of the Alatare Community, Olonde, via Ido/Eruwa road, Ibadan.
The plea was conveyed through a letter entitled: ‘Letter of Consideration for Assistance towards the construction of a motorable bridge in Alatare Community, Olonde, Ibadan’, to the office of the governor and copy made available to the Ido Local Government Chairman.
Speaking on behalf of the Community, the Chairman of the Community, Mr.Abu Rafiu explained that the community has been facing a lot of challenges due to a large natural stream of water flowing that has been destroying our properties and also hindering the development of our community.
He noted that whenever there is heavy rainfall, most of the residents of this community don’t get to their houses as a result of the blockage, adding that some of the landlords and tenants sleep in their cars with their family members till day breaks.
He, therefore, appealed to the executive governor of Oyo State, Governor Seyi Makinde and the executive Chairman, Ido Local Government, Alhaji Shereef Adeojo, to use their good offices, as people’s governor and people’s chairman to come to their aid.
He urged them to, as a matter of urgency, construct a standard motorable bridge and drainage that will afford them move easily in their community.
The letter read in part: “We residents of the above community wish to extend our congratulations to His Excellency, Engineer Seyi Makinde, on his impressive two years anniversary in office.
“We note that the Hallmark of a responsible government is in its responsiveness to the needs and yearnings of her people. Hence, this has been exemplified by this present administration.
“In the last 24 months, there have been visible and yielding efforts towards the transformation and development of our Education, Economy, Health services, road networks, security of lives and properties, among others.
“We are appealing to Your Excellency to use your good office, as people’s governor, to come to our aid by helping us construct a standard motorable bridge and drainage that will afford us to move easily in our community.
“We will look forward to hearing from you. We pray that God will continue to guide your administration.”
