The President of the Senate, Sen. Bukola Saraki has assured the people at the grassroots of more developmental project as a way of boosting their socio-economic capabilities.
Saraki gave the assurance at the launch of a N250 million appeal fund for Imode township developmental projects in Imode, Oke-Ero Local Government Area of Kwara State at the weekend.
Saraki who was represented by Alhaji Abdulwahab Issa, Director General of Mandate Group, said that the proposed projects are: a standard library, modern ICT centre and Ultra Modern health centre.
Others are police posts, ultra modern palace and two school buses.
He said such developmental projects were needed to fast track the desired transformation envisioned for the people of the various communities.
Saraki, however, called for a workable synergy between government and community leaders in the areas of health, education, infrastructure and human capital development to achieve results.
“It is high time we looked beyond the objectives of making laws, but focus on things that will enhance the social well-being of the people through empowerment.
“As we forge ahead in our constitutional responsibilities, we must begin to address how to empower our people productively,” he said.
Saraki added that the various communal projects embarked upon by the community, were in tandem with the policy thrust of the Federal Government and the National Assembly.
He said many of the grassroots reintegration projects initiated by the National Assembly, especially those that bordered on road construction and rehabilitation, were meant to improve the wellbeing of the people.
“Those projects were already receiving serious attention from members of the National Assembly.
“The Ilorin-Omu-Aran-Kabba and Kiama-Kishi roads recently approved by government for rehabilitation, were geared toward boosting commercial and socio-economic activities of the communities.”
Saraki, urged the people of the various communities to imbibe the spirit of unity and peaceful co-existence.
Mr Olagoke Rapheal, Chairman of Oke-Ero Local Government Transition Implementation Committee, pledged the committee’s readiness to partner with the community on developmental projects.
Oba Adewunmi Dada, Onimode of Imode, urged the people to always put the interest of the community above other personal gains.
He appealed for synergy and cordial relationship between traditional rulers in neighbouring communities, to achieve the desired peace and harmony.
Chief Jedy Goddy, Chairman of the occasion, called on stakeholders in the community to channel their resources toward the growth, progress and development of the community.
Goddy, represented by Mr Sunday Asipaode, praised the people of the community for their selflessness and dedication and urged them to maintain the tempo
