Prof. Banji Akintoye Defeats Sen. Bola Tinubu To Emerge As The Fourth Yoruba Leader
Assembly of All the Yoruba groups worldwide has elected Prof. Banji Akintoye as the fourth leader of the Yoruba race.
The election which took place in Ibadan today 22nd August, amongst various Yoruba pressure and social groups ended in the favour of Prof. Banji Akintoye who emerged winner with 79 votes, defeated Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu who had 03 votes.
Speaking at the event, the convener of the program, Comrade Victor Taiwo, chairman of Oodua Redemption Alliance said, we look back and forth, and we discovered that the problem we the Yoruba race is facing today is lack our leadership and we are here today to find the last solution to this problem so we can go to the next level by squarely facing what is ahead of us.
“The bane of our situation is in our leaderlessness in Yorubaland and the disparate, fragmented, multifarious groups in the land holding on their own individually without accord and harmony.”
Comrade Taiwo also noted that with the passage of Senator Adesanya on 27 April, 2008, the office has been vacant and the affairs of the Yoruba have been run like a rudderless ship on the troubled sea without a captain in control.
” Yoruba needs a someone that will be imbued with wisdom, high intelligence, patriotism to the Yoruba cause, passionate commitment, bravery and courageous, uncompromising honest, trust worthy, friendliness, must also possess sense of administration, accommodated and must be accountability in this war time.
“We are the verge of subjugation, our racial existence is being threatened, President Buhari has lost the control of country’s navigation and the ship is fast sinking with everybody on board, hence we should all be striving for a life jacket to enhance his rescue from extant drowning.” Comrade Taiwo stressed.
Speaking earlier at the event, the chairman of the event, Elder. Dr. Taye Ayorinde JP, said Yoruba over the years have splitted into various dimensions, but it is time for us to come together and face our challenges, we have had series of summit but it all nothing but talking show, it is time for action now, and we need to do this with an outstanding leader that is free from all sort of EFCC or ICPC stains.
Dignitaries at the event are, Otunba Deji Osunbogun, Elder Taye Ayorinde, Princess Oyeronke Abimbola, Comrade Laoye Sanda, Pa. Olamilekan Akekaka, Tunde Amusat, two leaders as representative from each groups and others.
