Premier Doug Ford is set to make an announcement in Caledon, Ont., Tuesday morning.
According to a government advisory, Ford will be joined by the minister of labour and the associate minister of transportation
Ford’s office hasn’t officially said what the announcement is about, however a long stretch of the proposed Highway 413 linking Halton, Peel and York regions would bisect Caledon — a small municipality north of Brampton.
The province said earlier this month that it hopes to begin construction on the new highway within a year, after reaching an agreement with the federal government preventing a potential court battle.
The deal allows the project to proceed without a full federal environmental impact assessment. News of the agreement was condemned by environmental groups and some of the opposition parties at Queen’s Park, who oppose the highway.
