The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has revealed Portable, the controversial singer, will face more than six charges bordering on alleged assault in court.
Portable was arrested on Friday for alleged assault after the expiration of the 72-hour ultimatum given to him by the police to turn himself in.
It is understood that the singer will be charged to court next week.
In a Twitter post on Saturday, Muyiwa Adejobi, police spokesperson, said the ‘Zazoo Zeh’ crooner will face multiple charges in court.
Adejobi was reacting to a user who called out the police for not arresting MC Oluomo, chairman of the Lagos state chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).
Oluomo has been in the news for allegedly threatening Igbo voters during the March 18 governorship election in Lagos.
In his post, the police spokesperson said Portable has many pending cases of assaults on people.
“I am sure you are very aware as I have addressed MC’s case, but portable has more than six-count charges to attend to, apart from resisting arrest and injuring a police man. He will be charged to court for beating up a guy in otta, who fired a petition to CP Ogun,” he wrote.
“There are many pending cases of assaults on people and attacks, and he will be investigated because people have complained against him. So, there is no sentiment in law, let him appear in court, and allow the judge to listen to the charges against him. He has no constitutional immunity anyway.”
