Police dismiss officer who shot and killed petty trader while chasing suspected 'Yahoo boy'

– Imohimi Edgal, acting Lagos state police commissioner says the officer involved in the shooting of a woman in Mushin has been dismissed
– Mrs Kudirat Adebayo was shot dead during a chase between a Lagos state police officer and an unidentified man sometime in April
– The son of the deceased however claimed that nothing has been done to bring his mother’s killer to justice
The son of the petty trader killed by a police in Mushin in April this year told NAIJ.com that nothing has been done by the force to bring killers of his mother to justice.
He said this hours the police claimed the officer whose stray bullet killed the woman has been dismissed.
Imohimi Edgal, acting Lagos state police commissioner says the police officer has not only been dismissed but charged to court.
The late Adebayo, a mother of four, was killed near the toll gate in Mushin.
She was shot dead during a chase between a Lagos state police officer and an unidentified man, who was accused of being a Yahoo boy.
The acting police commissioner said other officers involved in the incident would also face the law.
Edgal said the information was released late because of communication gap between the force and the family, the nation reports.
The late Adebayo’s family has been pressing for justice.
But the deceased son, Adebayo Olorunloye said that he was unaware of such prosecution or court judgment.
He said the family have forwarded letters seeking justice to the office of the commissioner.
He claimed that there was no response to their letters and no action had been taken over it.
“I’m hearing this for the first time. I’ll call my lawyer to confirm,” Olorunloye said.
Meanwhile, If only petty trader Kudirat Adebayo had known that she would meet her death on Tuesday, April 4, 2017, perhaps she would have stayed indoors like she had initially planned to.
Unfortunately, a trigger happy policeman named TBoy who allegedly was in pursuit of Yahoo boys fired the shot that instantly killed Mrs Adebayo.
