Ooni of Ife Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi has installed a socialite, businesswoman and philanthropist Dr Toyin Kolade as Iyalaje of Oodua.Wife of Osun State Governor, Kafayat Oyetola, and the deputy governor of Kogi State, Edward Onoja, were among the dignitaries that witnessed the installation of a business tycoon, Mrs Toyin Kolade, as Iyalaje Oodua by Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, on Saturday.The event, which took place at Ile Oodua palace in Ile-Ife, Osun State, was also witnessed by the wife of a former Ogun State governor, Mrs Funsho Amosun, amongst others.During the rites preceding the installation, Kolade was led to Idi Aje, the shrine of Aje dirty, and was later received by Ooni and other guests in attendance at the palace court where prayers were offered for her.
Praying for the new Iyalaje Oodua, Oba Ogunwusi, said the title bestowed on Kolade would open doors to prosperity for her and the entire Yorubaland.Ooni urged her to work more for the promotion of Yoruba culture and tradition.
In her speech, Kolade, described her installation as “a divine call to duty” and thanked Ooni for honouring her with the title.She promised to work for further promotion of Yoruba culture and tradition, as well as trade and commerce for the benefit of people within and outside the race.
