The Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Olushina Olukolu has confirmed the recovery of a fully loaded truck containing Nestle Products amounting fifty Million Naira.
He made this known today 14th January while briefing Journalists at the Oyo State Police Command Headquarters Eleyele Ibadan.
According to the Commissioner, he said “on January 13, 2020, at about 7:30 AM, information was received by a team of SARS Operatives who were on routine Anti-crime patrol within Ibadan metropolis that some notorious hoodlums had hijacked a trailer with registration number XZ 975 AJJ loaded with Nestle Products worth fifty Million Naira (N50M).
“”The truck was said to have been hijacked from Agbara Area of Lagos and was diverted towards Oyo State.
“Having received the information, our men of the SARS Operatives swung into action, and in the process, the hijacked and diverted trailer was later recovered at Akinyele Area along Ibadan/Oyo Express way, with another registration number ENU 728 XE, being affixed to the vehicle.
“We are on intensive investigation to make sure we arrest the perpetrators of the criminal act.” CP Olukolu stressed.
However, the State Commissioner of Police paraded several suspects who were also arrested for invading the premises of one CCECC Beam Nig. Ltd, a railway construction company located at Sanusi area in Ibadan and also stole one hundred and twenty three pieces of 16MM iron rods and other equipment into a volvo truck.
The names of the suspects are: Popoola Rafiu aged 44, (a criminal reciever) Caleb Adewumi 46, a (criminal reciever), Taiwo Seyi,33 a(Driver of the truck), Ajidara Okikiola 45, (Criminal reciever), Ayorinde Shola 40, (Criminal reciever), Olayinka Olanrewaju 21, (Criminal reciever), Issa Salaudeen 43, (Criminal reciever), Bello Olawale 32, (Company Project Manager), Afolayan Lukman 38, (Criminal reciever).
According to one of the suspects, Bello Olawale who is the project manager of the Company said “I am the project manager of the company and I was approached by a colleague whose name is Gbenga Williams to sell some iron rods to some people outside without the companys notice, so I introduced buyers to him. This is the second time we are transacting this business and we were caught eventually.”
He further said he does not understand why Gbenga Williams was not apprehended because he was the mastermind of the transactions, but on closer investigation it was revealed that Gbenga was the one who hinted the police about the dubious plan Wale was planning.
Wale who receives a salary of one hundred and twenty thousand naira monthly says after selling the iron rods, they realises the sum of over two hundred thousand naira.
“Now that I have been arrested, I am so dissappointed, but this really looks like a set up, as my friend that used to initiate this deal was not arrested with us.” He lamented
