Osun State government has condemned in totality some officers of the Traffic Marshall who have relied in extortion and other misconduct that could tarnish the good image of the incumbent administration in the state.
The State Commissioner for Works and Transport, Engr Kazeem Salami, gave this warning on behalf of the State government while having a meeting with all the Traffic Marshall in the state.
According to the Commissioner, “Let me warn the bad eggs among you who think the job is an avenue for them to be collecting bribes from motorists or engaging on an illegal deal to urgently desist from such acts otherwise they will be sanctioned appropriately”.
Salami, while lamenting said, members of the general public have been reporting different cases of misconduct by these Marshals to his office as well as how some of them have been misrepresenting d government in the public.
The Commissioner said, this cannot be tolerated any more adding that, anybody found wanting would have himself or herself to blame.
Salami, however implored motorists and Okada riders across the state, to be law abiding by using number plates, crash helmet and not to drive against the free flow of traffic while they should also avoid using one way saying, anybody violates the traffic rule would be fined as approved by Osun State House of Assembly.
Responding, the Executive Secretary Office of Transportation, Engr. Wahab Ibrahim, enjoined the good people of the state on the need to stop assaulting, harassing or beating any Traffic Officers while discharging their official duties adding that anybody who beats an officer would be made to face the full wrath of the law.
