Osun State government has charged the
967 Muslim pilgrims from the State to be good ambassadors of the state and the nation, urging them to respect the laws of the Holy land and shun prohibited items.
The State Commissioner for Home Affairs, Dr Adebisi Obawale gave this charge at the vaccination exercise of the pilgrims over the weekend.
According to Bawale, “when you get to the Holy Land Mecca, we expect you to be of excellent conduct. We expect you to use the opportunity to pray for yourselves, your family, Osun State as well as entire Nigeria”.
In his own speech, the Chairman, State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Amir – ul-Hajj, Barrister Zikrullahi Olakunle Hassan, charged the Intending Pilgrims to demonstrate humility when they get to Mecca and Medinah.
The Chairman, who reiterated the governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola’s efforts in pursuing complete welfare of the Pilgrims all the time, assured them that all arrangements have been put in place to ensure a successful hajj such as conducive hotel accommodation, meals, hiram clothes among others.
According to the Board Secretary, Alhaji Sikiru Adetona Alao in his own remark, he informed that the vaccination exercise was done in order to protect all the pilgrims from various diseases during and after their stay in the holy land, saying “Protection is Better Than Cure”.
Alao, added further that collection of clearance, distribution of bags and cloths to intending pilgrims is still on-going.
