Osun state Local Government Pension Bureau, has reiterated its readiness in continuing to ensure prompt payment of pensions of local government and primary schools retirees to ease burden of pensioners in the state.
The Permanent Secretary of the bureau, Mr. Kayode Afolabi who stated this in a chat with newsmen in Osogbo attributed delay in payment of pension to current economic recession in the country which is affecting all sectors.
Afolabi, said the present administration in the state was keen about the welfare of pensioners hence the need to device various means to ensure that pensioners were not subjected to untold hardship.
He called on pensioners to exercise patient saying all the arrears of their pension would be paid in a shortest period of time as economic of the state improves.
The Permanent Secretary, hinted that the benefits and arrears of pensioners had been captured in 2017 budget.
Afolabi, refuted the claims that the present administration in the state was not committed to the welfare of retirees, submitting that the pensioners were central to the attainment of its six point integral action plan.
Afolabi, however urged people of the state to continue to support Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola’s led government in its quest to make life more meaningful and bearable to the entire citizens.
