Osun Governorship Poll: Tribunal Fixes Friday For Ruling On Oyetola’s Petition Against Adeleke’s Victory.

The Osun State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has fixed Friday to deliver judgment on the petition filed by former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola against the victory of Senator Ademola Adeleke on the July 16, 2022 election.

The tribunal, chaired by Justice Tertse Kume, began hearing Oyetola’s petition last year after he alleged that there was over-voting in 749 polling units during the election.

Oyetola also challenged the certificate tendered by Adeleke, alleging forgery in the document the PDP candidate submitted in 2018 during the by-election of Osun West Senatorial District and, subsequently, the certificate he submitted in 2022 to Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the governorship poll.

During the hearing of his petition, Oyetola and his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), called two witnesses: a statistician and the party’s State Collation Agent.

INEC, the first respondent in the matter, called one witness; while the second and third respondents called two witnesses with a plea for the tribunal to discountenance Oyetola’s petition.
