In order to allow others to benefit, Osun State Government has appealed to all farmers indebted to the State Agricultural Development Corporation, OSSADEC, to the tune of four hundred and fifty million naira to urgently repay their loan.
The General Manager of the Corporation, Mr. Kayode Olanipekun made this appeal while answering questions from Newsmen on the preparation of the Corporation for the 2017 planting season.
Olanipekun, noted that non payment of the loan had seriously prevented other farmers in the state to access the loan, saying only those who have paid their loan could benefit this year.
The OSSADEC General Manager, who informed that, the Corporation had refurbished its tractors for land clearing for farmers noted that the step became imperative with a view of easing burden of farmers in the state.
Olanipekun, maintained that the Corporation would sustain its training programme so as to equip farmers with modern day farming techniques to enhance their productivity.
The OSSADEC Boss, who lauded State and Federal governments for their various intervention programmes in agricultural sector emphasised that, the intervention had reduced unemployment among the youths.
Olanipekun, urged youths to embrace farming and focus on the modern farming method to become job creators rather than job seekers.
The General Manager said, the present administration in the state under Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, was committed to agriculture revolution hence the need for heavy investment in the sector.
He called on the stakeholders in agricultural sector to support government in its quest to make the state the food basket of the nation.
