The Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, on Thursday met behind closed doors with State governors elected on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress.
The meeting which was held inside the Presidential Villa, Abuja was held shortly after a meeting of the National Economic Council that attracted state governors.
The Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, Rochas Okorocha, confirmed to State House correspondents that they discussed issues relating to the party at the meeting.
Okorocha, who is the Imo State Governor, added that discussions at the meeting were meant to move the party forward.
He said, “We came to discuss issues relating to our party and our government and how to move our party forward.
“We discussed a lot of issues on how to move the party forward, how to strengthen the party and how to make sure our party remains victorious in all elections.
“Very soon, we will have convention. That is part of the things we are discussing.”
Okorocha also denied reports that President Muhammadu Buhari’s absence had been delaying the party’s convention.
“The convention not taking place has nothing to do with the absence of the President or the Acting President.
“We are just putting our house in order and making sure things are in the right form before we kick off,” he said.
