Victor Osimhen scored his 100th career goal in club football as Napoli, Serie A champions, defeated Sassuolo 2-0 at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium on Sunday.
Osimhen tucked away a penalty in the 16th minute to reach the landmark goal.
The goal is also his 64th since arriving at Napoli from Lille in July 2020.
On a night the 24-year-old received the Paolo Rossi award for finishing as Serie A highest goalscorer last season, Osimhen sent the goalkeeper the wrong way to expertly dispatch his spot-kick, putting unbeaten Napoli on the road to victory.
The win was sealed in the 64th minute by Giovanni Di Lorenzo’s strike.
Osimhen lasted the entire 90 minutes of the game as Napoli secured their second conservative win in the two-week-old Seria A season.
Osimhen, who is linked to a host of top clubs in the summer — including Manchester United, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain — has also scored three times this season.
His three goals make him the joint-leading scorer with AC Milan’s Olivier Giroud.
