His Imperial Majesty Enitan Adeyeye Ojaja II Ooni of Ife Oba drums support for the 2024 Adire Carnival in Vienna Austria.
During a curtsey call on him by the organisers of the event Egbe Omo Oduduwa Austria, represented by the coordinator Engr Oluyemi Ogundele and accompanied by the Popular Yoruba Cultural heritage promoter Princess Adejoke Shomoye A.K.A Ewaede, who is also known for her war against importation of China made Adire fabric into Nigeria in his place at ile Ife, the Royal father thanked the organisers ot the event for promoting the Yoruba Culture in Diaspora and gave them a Royal blessing.
He encouraged the team to continue with the good work they are doing. He promised to grace the occasion come June 2024 and advised the team to start planning in Ernest.
In his response, Engineer Ogundele intimated the Royal father aboit the event. In his words ” The event is to promote Yoruba Cultural heritage and tourism. It is also meant to promote commerce and boost the production of Adire fabrics production in the Western part of Nigeria”
In conclusion, he informed the Royal father that 28 years ago in the year 2005 that the former Ooni of Ife, Onibuse II, Oba Okunade Sijuwade accepted the invitation of the Yoruba community in Austria to grace the 10 years anniversary of the establishment of Egbe omo Oduduwa Austria.Three decades along the line history is repeating itself.
The 2024 Adire Carnival in slated for the last week of June 2024. The week long program will start on Monday 22nd of June with exhibition and end on Saturday 29th of June with the Adire Carnival/ Street party. The event will also include the 15 year’s remembrance anniversary of Chief Mrs Susan Wenger A.K.A. Aduni Olorisha the born Austrian citizen who lived, died and buried in Oshogbo, Osun State, Nigeria. The participants will be able to see her life time work in an exhibition put together by her foundation.
The organisers are expecting Osun State and Ogun State government to partner with them for the mega event.
The event which is the biggest Nigerian cultural event outside the shores of the country would be extended to neighbouring countries like Hungary and Slovakia to celebrate 10 years anniversary of its existence. The celebration will also include business summit, awards ceremony and cultural beauty pageant.
