In its efforts to reduce hunger in the North American country, the Canada Chapter of the Odua People’s Union (OPU) has donated $1000 to Daily Bread Food Bank.
Announcing the donation, the National Coordinator of the group in Canada ,Ms Funmi Olumade said feeding the hungry in different ways is one of the projects of OPU Canada.
The OPU crew was received by Tarini Deele, Development Assistant at the
Daily Bread Food Bank, 191 New Toronto Street, Toronto ON M8V 2E7 and taken on a tour of the facility.
Thanking members of the group for making the donation possible through their contributions, Olumade said “our Monetary donation was greatly appreciated because it will help to buy raw food for cooking and other essential needs that were not donated.
Among the crew members to the food are Otunba Kemi Agbekeade, the Nat. Social Secretary, Ms. Oluwakemi Jeje , a Board Member, Two OPU Canada Youth , Oyeyinka Oyedele and Abass Akanji as well as two members, Olori Subuola Adekolu and Mrs Dupe Oyinsan.
Meanwhile, the OPU Canada chapter has said efforts have reached advanced stagecc to make a difference in Nigeria.
According to the Chapter’s National Coordinator, Funmi Olumade, top on the agenda of the group is the need to take care of the home interest.
“We are aware of the need of our people at home, especially in the area of youth empowerment and medicals.
” To this end, we have identified some areas where our little intervention could be of great help.
“That is why we have put every hands on deck to ensure that we make the difference in our immediate environment here and our source at home” the Coordinator said.
