Ontario Tops 200,000 Total COVID-19 Cases After 3rd Straight Day Over 3,000

Ontario has surpassed 200,000 total COVID-19 cases — and 100,000 of those cases were reported within the past six weeks.
The province reported 3,266 new cases Wednesday, pushing the total number of cases to 200,626. This is the third straight day that cases have topped 3,000.
Most of the new cases are in Toronto (805), followed by Peel Region (523), and York Region (349), Windsor-Essex County (208), and Waterloo (206).
Thirty-seven more people have died, brining the death toll to 4,767. Most of those deaths (2,885) were people living in long-term care (LTC).
Long-term care homes continue to battle the ravages of the virus, with 220 LTC homes currently dealing with outbreaks.
Provincial health officials said more than 51,000 tests were conducted in the previous day, with the testing backlog swelling to 55,484.
