The palace of the Oluwo of Iwoland, HIM Oba (Dr.) Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, has said conferment of Waziri title is an exclusive right of monarch.
Speaking through the palace spokesperson, Alli Ibraheem, said Waziri is a northern title initiated in Yorubaland by the Oluwo of Iwoland in 2018 conferred on Sheik Yahqub Abdul Baaqi.
Alli further asked duplicators of the title to stage an excursion to Northern States where the titled was originated on whose right confers waziri title.
He pointed to the diary of history of Waziri title, tasking canvassers for the duplication of the title to consult Oluwo who initiated the office or visit northern region where the title was borrowed.
Alli stated the conferment of Yahqub Baaqi was a unanimous decision and followed the endorsement of stakeholders.
According to him ” Conferment of Waziri title is an exclusive right of monarch. No one else except monarch has the right to appoint and turban Waziri. Proxy or other means lack locust standi”
“I want to challenge the promoters of duplicate Waziri to name one ever turbaned by league of Alfas or Imams ? The clean records are there and clean. Waziri are appointed by kings and turban in the palace. On 20th June, 2014, Saadu Shehu Gidado was appointed and turbaned by Emir Sanusi Lamido in his palace. Equally, the current Waziri of Ilorin and a former president of the Senate, Senator Bukola Saraki was promoted and turbaned as Waziri of Ilorin by the Emir of Ilorin , Alhaji Ibrahim Zulu Gambari on 22nd July, 2018 while the former presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar was turbaned as Waziri of Adamawa on 25th November, 2018 by the Lamido of Adamawa in his palace. Every title has its tradition”
“The title of Waziri Yorubaland was initiated by Oluwo of Iwoland. It has never happened anywhere or by anyone before. Islam is a religious of peace that should be respected by religious leaders. Alfas supposed to be peacemakers. We are hopeful they will retrace and respect the tradition. They weren’t properly advised, this one they put foot on will not portray Islam and her promoters in good light”
“Jostling the title with Oluwo is an affront on tradition and northern Emirs who initiated the title. It is a complete deviation from the respected route. It won’t stand the test of time”

Alli urged Islamic clerics and leaders to cooperate with Oluwo in face lifting Islam.
He however implored the public to be wary of impersonation as that may attract negative image to Islam.
