…Apatira Emerges As Leader
Newly sworn-in chairman of Ojodu Local Council Development Area, Hon David Olusegun Odunmbaku, has performed his first official duty, swearing-in members of his council’s legislative arm.
Recall the elected councillors were issued certificates of return on Tuesday, July 27, 2021, at the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) office, Yaba.
Among the newly sworn-in councillors from the six political wards of the council area are Hon Opeyemi Apatira, Hon Lekan Peters, Hon Bola Lawal, Hon Gbenga Opebi, Hon Iyanda Kazeem and Hon Olumide Akinade.
At the end of the swearing-in for the 5th legislative arm, nominations were made for the four positions in the House. The nomination for the four positions was accepted by the legislators without counter selection, all positions were filled according to their consensus.
In the light of this, Opeyemi Apatira and Lekan Peters emerged as Leader and Deputy Leader of the House while Bola Lawal and Gbenga Opebi were elected as Majority Leader and Chief Whip respectively.
While performing the ceremony, the Ojodu LCDA Boss, enjoined the newly elected councillors to repose the enthusiasm of the electorates by making laws that would impact positively on the lives of the people.
The council boss cited that the task of bringing dividends of democracy to the people of the council area starts with the lawmakers.
“In the same vein, I appreciate all the leaders of our great party. I also want to use this medium to appreciate the staff and entire Management of Ojodu LCDA for their unalloyed loyalty to the outgoing administration, and we hope that this incoming administration will also get a better working relationship from them, while also extending gratitude to the good people of Ojodu LCDA who have reposed great trust in us by giving us their mandate.”
“In this wise, we are ready to get-the-ball-rolling, however, all these can only be achieved through the support of the Exco, Legislative, Management and staff of the LCDA as well as the general populace of Ojodu as we make Ojodu LCDA a role model among other Councils as well as a force to reckon with; through infrastructural strides, economic empowerment, educational development, social welfare and more, which will cut across all the nooks and crannies of our great LCDA.”
“Therefore, we solicit relentless prayers and support from all and sundry, particularly our traditional leaders, religious bodies and leaders, artisans, professionals, corporate entities, transporters, and all well-meaning citizens of Ojodu LCDA.”
“In conclusion, the journey to our desired haven requires our collective support in unity, resilience and determination which are ingredients to the development of any society.”
