An event celebrating Lieutenant General Oladipo Diya’s 79th posthumous birthday was held on April 3, at his home in GRA Ikeja, Lagos.
The day also coincided with the condolence visit of His Excellency, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, former governor of Ogun state and senator-elect of Ogun East.
The ceremony was attended by family members, friends, colleagues, and prominent dignitaries from across the country. It was an opportunity to celebrate the life and legacy of the late Chief of General Staff, who was widely respected for his dedication to Nigeria’s military and democratic development.
He visited the family of Lt Gen. Oladipupo Diya. A special church service was held in honor of the former military ruler’s birthday.
Present at the event include Senator Adefuye, Aare Kola Oyefeso, Chief Kunle Shokunbi, Dr. Onadeko clerics, family members, and well-wishers among others.
Oladipo Diya was a former Chief of General Staff (CGS) during the military regime of Gen. Sani Abacha, Lt-Gen. Donaldson Oladipo Oyeyinka Diya (retd), died on March 26, 2023, a few days before his 79th birthday. The military tactician, lawyer, administrator, and gentleman officer was a notable and popular member of the Abacha regime from 1993 until his arrest for treason in 1997.
