Artistes including Niniola, Zlatan Ibile and Trill Tega expressed their readiness to get fans dancing today at the finish line of the eighth edition of the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon at the Eko Atlantic City, Victoria Island.
Managing Director of Nilayo Sports Management Limited, Chief Bukola Olopade, during a press conference in Lagos yesterday , disclosed plans have been perfected to ensure the success of the first-ever gold label race in Nigeria.
Olopade noted the gold label status of the marathon is a challenge to aim for platinum.
He hinted on upward review of the $50,000 prize money from next edition, adding a regional conference on road runners will also coincide with the next edition.
A total of 50,000 athletes, including 76 foreign runners from 22 countries across the world, will participate in the marathon, confirmed to start at the National Stadium, Lagos by 7 am.
Ethiopia’s Hayla Bazu Worku is leading the team of foreign world-class runners to the Gold-Label race.
The General Manager of the race, Yussuf Alli disclosed the start time has been moved forward by 30 minutes to ensure the athletes can kick off the race when there is sunlight for visibility.
