The Federal Government, on Friday, called on the Chinese business community in Nigeria to support the efforts of President Bola Tinubu and his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, in fostering a mutually beneficial bilateral relationship between the two countries.
The Director-General of the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership, Joseph Tegbe, made the call during a courtesy visit to the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce-Nigeria in Abuja.
It was recalled that Jinping had pledged a 360bn Yuan investment in Africa and signed a comprehensive strategic partnership with Tinubu during his visit in September.
Tegbe, who took office three months ago, explained that under Tinubu’s leadership, the country is eager to leverage the comprehensive strategic plan with China to transition from a trade relationship to a developmental partnership, where China will act as a catalyst for industrialisation in Nigeria.
The Director-General also briefed the chamber leaders on ongoing efforts to attract more strategic investments in areas such as agriculture, alternative energy, solid mineral development, and healthcare, while ensuring ease of doing business for Chinese enterprises within Nigeria’s laws.
