Nigerians have scolded Atiku over his statement on Obasanjo saying both former president and vice president began plunging the country into irredeemable decline.
Nigerians on Twitter have berated former Vice President and the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, saying his tenure with Olusegun Obasanjo laid the foundation for Nigeria’s unfolding collapse.
SaharaReporters had reported that Atiku said on Saturday that Obasanjo ought to be on the redesigned naira notes which are being planned by the Central Bank of Nigeria.
Atiku, who has recently been courting his age-long estranged boss, had said on Twitter that the current President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration should put Obasanjo on the naira to serve as an inspiration to “future generations of Nigerians.”
The PDP candidate had tweeted, “I celebrate the extraordinary prowess of His Excellency, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, in bringing peace to Ethiopia. I am not surprised. I know my boss. He did the same thing in Liberia and São Tomé and Príncipe during our time in office.
“If for nothing else, he is most deserving of a Nobel Peace Prize, and I will nominate him when entries are open for nominations. Africa is blessed to have a statesman of such impeccable democratic credentials as Chief Obasanjo. A man whose image ought to be in the redesigned Naira note to inspire future generations of Nigerians to sacrifice for their nation and continent.
“On behalf of my family, I congratulate you, President Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR, for successfully ending the Ethiopia-Tigray conflict. And I thank God for the gift of wisdom and foresight He gave you, which you have used creditably to steer Nigeria and Africa on the right path.
Meanwhile, Nigerians have scolded Atiku over his statement on Obasanjo saying both former president and vice president began plunging the country into irredeemable decline.
A Twitter User, Mighty Mighty, said, “When will you start your Statesmanship, forget Dubai come back to Africa, Help in uniting and innovating ideas that will challenge African leaders to strive, we lack the drive and innovation, that’s why all the mineral resources in Africa end up in Dubai raw.”
Another commentator, Kenny Jims, said, “Never in your life would you put a former corrupt president on our naira. The foundation of Nigeria’s collapse started with Obasanjo. @atiku you barely don’t have anything to offer as a presidential aspirant.”
Still another tweep, Wetriumph Still, said, “What about that time Deborah was burnt alive by disgruntled Fulani Muslims in Sokoto state? You failed her because she’s a Christian. How can I trust you with my vote?”
“Sir, pls stop complimenting your Boss. All your Boss does is tarnish your image and speak bad about your legacy and all your stand for. Quit being the good guy and speak of your Boss’s ills as your Boss will not hesitate to tarnish your image without batting an eye lid,” another Nigerian wrote.
